Walter Nicolino founder and partner of the firm carlorattiassociati - walter nicolino & carlo ratti, is an architect practicing in Turin. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Turin with a thesis that has received Honorable Mention in the competition Archiprix - World's Best Graduation Projects 2003, is involved in several research projects at MIT Senseable City Lab, directed by Carlo Ratti, and has several collaborations with Universities and Cultural Institutions as a visiting lecturer. The research field of Turin headquarters of the study focuses in particular on how digital technologies affect the architecture and urban space.
Among other projects, we highlight the expansion of the Trussardi cafe in Piazza della Scala in Milan and the Digital Water Pavilion in the city of Zaragoza in Spain, chosen by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2007, and awarded the Second Prize at the first edition of the Renzo Piano Foundation in 2011. Numerous projects have been exhibited in solo exhibitions, including the Biennale of Architecture in Venice in 2004, 2006 and 2010.
